Wanted: Higher Education Outreach Intern

Young people can have a huge impact when it comes to building political will for climate policies. Citizens’ Climate Education works to support students, educators, and higher ed allies with the tools and resources they need to be effective climate advocates. We pride ourselves on being fun, connected, and dynamic. Our members are leaders in the youth climate movement and go on to do amazing things! As an intern, you can help us find more young people to join CCL, take action on climate change, and improve our programs and resources. We're accepting applications for a higher education outreach intern starting in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

 CCE/CCL's mission is to create the political will for climate solutions and to empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.CCL is a national non-partisan non-profit with educational programs and lobbying activities (designations of 501 (c-3) for CCE and 501 (c-4) for CCL).The purpose of this position is to increase the participation of young people in CCL and increase support for carbon fee and dividend from higher education.

SCHEDULE/TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 8 hours a week for 15 weeks in Spring/Fall, 20 hours a week for 12 weeks in Summer.  

LOCATION:

  • Remote

PAYMENT:

  • Free registration to CCL’s climate conferences. A diversity fellowship is available for students who are non-white with demonstrated financial need. 

GOALS:

  • Increase the participation of young people in CCL. 

  • Increase support for carbon pricing from higher education. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft the higher education newsletter and agenda for monthly calls. 

  • Update the website, mailing list, and other communications. 

  • Edit and improve existing training and outreach materials. 

  • Help recruit students to the Campus Leaders Program, CCL chapters, and events. 

  • Assist and attend the higher education monthly calls.

  • Conduct research on climate education, diversity, and civic engagement. 

  • Research contacts for outreach and partnerships. 

  • Other tasks as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for a highly motivated student who is a self-starter, detail oriented, passionate about social change and climate solutions.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Passion for environmental advocacy and social change.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to details and timeliness. 

  • Problem solving and working independently. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google apps, social media.

  • Prior leadership or CCL experience. 

  • Graphic design skills are a plus.
